Last summer, YouTuber Clinton Jones once again initiated a community challenge with the theme "Boss Fight." I wanted to depict a scene from Berserk as I was heavily into the manga at the time, but my laptop couldn't handle the scene due to various technical constraints, including grass, fur, and clouds. You can see an old version of the animation at the end of this page.
I decided to revisit the project with my new computer, creating just a single image as I would like to move on to other projects. I am really pleased with the result, especially the boss's fur, which looks truly bestial! I used two hair particle systems to achieve this effect.
I created the landscape, but the 3D models of the characters come from Sketchfab since my goal for this project was not to model but rather to compose a scene that I liked. I still made some modifications to fit my ideas, such as cutting one of the monster's horns, changing the textures of most elements etc..
